From left to right: Femke, Mieke & Britt.
Mieke
My name is Mieke and I started ballroom dancing in 2011. More and more dances were added: salsa, bachata, Argentine tango and kizomba. Since 2021 I have fully devoted myself to urban kiz, both as a leader and as a follower.
Urban kiz is a dance in development in which you never stop learning. I participate in group training, train with dance partners, take lessons at various dance schools and follow workshops at parties and festivals.
Since 2009 I have been a group teacher in primary education. With my pedagogical and didactic background and passion for dancing, giving dance lessons was a logical next step. At the end of 2022 I started "The Kizz Effect" and organized the first bootcamp and after several editions weekly group lessons, private lessons and workshops at parties followed. In February I joined the "Womens League": an international team of women who all lead, follow and teach. I love sharing my knowledge and especially the fun I get from dancing with you!
Britt
Hi, my name is Britt and I teach together with Mieke on Thursdays.
I started dancing in 2017. At the time I lived in Curaçao, so that's where I spent my first years dancing.
I started with salsa and bachata, but soon kizomba followed. Dancing is really my passion and outlet.
In daily life I am a teacher at a primary school. When teaching kizomba lessons I can combine my passion for teaching and dancing.
In 2018 I gave my first kizomba lessons in Curaçao. After that I developed myself in urban kiz and I also started teaching bachata/urban kiz lessons in the Netherlands.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm for dance with you!
Femke
My name is Femke and after I followed a "Kizomba in 1 day" in 2019, I was immediately sold! In recent years, my focus has shifted from traditional Kizomba to urban kiz with the same enthusiasm. At The Kizz Effect I want others to experience that same pleasure.
